Guiding Business Expansion with Core Values

There is no endeavor or prize on this planet worth sacrificing your values for. Not fame, not fortune, not the promise of undying success. The best things that we hold onto as humans are the authenticity of our emotions and the ability to share them with others. These same emotions are often driven by our morals and personal values, which we carry with us and – sometimes subconsciously – allow to shape our life’s trajectory. At PQE Group, we take pride in our identity and primary objective to “be the change” we wish to see in the world. We lay the foundation for this mission inside of our own walls and work to spread it to global communities through our people-centered approach to business.

Despite our rapidly expanding global reach, our PQE Group team remains true to our identity and what we stand for. We understand that establishing and adhering to company-wide values provides the groundwork for organizational identity, decision-making, and workplace culture. No matter the location, leaders at PQE Group work to cultivate a diverse work environment with no discrimination and where transparency and respect come first. This is our strength.

An article by FastCompany highlighted three ways a purpose-driven company can stay true to its values during tumultuous times of rapid growth, hiring processes, and skyrocketing demand. To stay true to your company’s core values, leaders must

  • FOCUS ON THE HOW. A key method for establishing a mission-oriented company and sustaining its shared vision is to prioritize not only the results but also HOW you achieve them. By emphasizing not just the outcomes but also the process, leaders can cultivate a work environment where every action reflects the company’s values and contributes to its long-term success.
  • MAKE ONBOARDING COUNT. In today’s competitive labor market, finding top talent can be challenging – but taking the time to find the right people who align with your vision is everything.  Practice comprehensive onboarding and allocate time to get to know new hires and have them integrate fully into the team through learning, coaching, mentoring, and socializing.
  • BUILD CULTURE LIKE A PRODUCT. No one designs a product or service without at least a few issues the first time; it is a strong case of trial and error! The same perspective works when building a company culture –  design, iterate, find and fix bugs, and continually work on your “culture product.”

If there is anything that I have learned throughout the decades I have worked and evolved in the Life Sciences industry, it is that sticking to your values will never steer you in the wrong direction. Proving your authenticity to your clients and communities will build trust and credibility, attract talent, drive innovation, and mitigate risk. And the best part? Businesses can positively impact society while achieving long-term success and sustainability. It’s a win-win! I’m excited to continue to cultivate our future vision with PQE Group’s everlasting values of the past.
