Due to climate change, over-farming, over-population (and a number of other reasons) our planet is under duress. One of the main causes of great concern is the shortage of fresh, clean drinking water. While water might be something that many of us take for granted, there are many under-resourced communities around the world that have little access to fresh water.
PQE Group takes pride in contributing to sustainable development in communities around the world. roulette online We try to create an impact where it is needed most, and so this year our focus is on the water crisis, a longstanding global problem that affects many lives.
The facts are staggering: Around 2.3 billion people live in water-stressed countries, and according to UNICEF, 1.42 billion people – including 450 million children – live in areas of “high or extremely high water vulnerability.” Climate change, according to the IPCC report, will have a major detrimental influence on water supplies in the coming years, limiting access to clean water for many people around the world.
Clean Sanitation and Water is one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6).
The organization aims to “ensure a clean and stable water supply and effective water sanitation for all people by the year 2030.” Figures state that 40 percent of the world’s population is affected by a lack of water, and the problem needs to be tackled head-on – which is why PQE Group is committed to taking a stance.
PQE CSR Water Initiatives – 2022
We are supporting WAMI (Water With A Mission), an organization that creates projects with high social impact for the world where under-resourced communities can have access to clean, drinking water.
Through donations and partnerships, WAMI builds aqueducts for communities that have no water in communities in Ecuador, Madagascar, Senegal, and Sri Lanka.
They also create awareness around the use of plastic and WAMI in a can is a 100% recyclable product that is helping to tackle plastic pollution in Italy. WAMI continues to strive to find ways of getting water to people and reducing the scourge of plastic through awareness and education.
Another organization that we work closely with is Amare, an NGO that operates in Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Kenya with building water wells and also supports income-generating activities.
In the villages of Hosanna and Tarcha, in Ethiopia, Amare has assisted with the building of wells – giving local communities in far-flung regions much-needed access to water.
In March, World Water Day is observed and at PQE Group we acknowledge our partners doing incredible work in tackling the water crisis, and through our CSR activities, we aim to create greater awareness around water consumption and positively impact communities.
As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Be The Change You Want to See in the World”, we hope that our efforts will make a positive change and continue to inspire others to continue to preserve our precious earth and offer a helping hand where it is needed.
